It’s fun to have a team to root for. Or two or three teams for some people. We cheer for them. We celebrate their victories. We feel bad when they lose. But they are our team.
Trinity is a team as well. We are made up of many individuals with many different talents. Some of us like sports. Others would rather curl up with a good book. Some of us sing or play musical instruments. Others put their talents to work with needles and thread and make fantastic quilts. There are those of us who are good with numbers, or organizational skill, or greeting and visiting people, or churning ice cream, or mowing lawns, and on and on and on. And WOW…do we ever have great cooks!
We are one team with many talents. Talents given to us by a God who created us in His own image. Talents that we can use in serving a God who loves us so much that He sent His only Son into the world to be our Savior. With Jesus’ death on the cross, we have been given the free gift of forgiveness. With His resurrection on Easter Sunday, we have been given life everlasting with Him in heaven.
As you look at the faces of the membership of Trinity Lutheran Church, remember that we are indeed one team with many talents. Redeemed by the Blood of Christ, we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We cheer for each other. We celebrate each other’s victories. We feel for others when they are sad. But we are always there to build each other up. That’s what a team does.
May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the true faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
